The one thing I’ve learned during the election season of 2016 and now during this first year of the Trump presidency (and failed leadership in Congress, on both sides … Except for the Tax Cut& Jobs Bill by most Republicans) is that most Americans indeed are conservative at their core and that they are not Republicans but rather Trumpians. The GOP doesn’t define them and doesn’t — hasn’t — represented them. But Trump does. He gets it. He understands the average American and what their major concerns are. And he has the energy and grit that conservatives have been wanting so bad in a candidate that represents them. But most importantly, he has the decency and honor to follow through with his promises, and when necessary, to fight for those who voted for him. In fact, he is fighting for every American, even those who hate him and try to undermine him at every step.
My prediction is that voters will never be the same again. Conservatives will certainly never be the same again. Politics, hopefully (because it is so vile and so concerned about its own agenda rather than the issues of the American people), will never be the same again!
